pixiliti grew out of a bachelor thesis by Simon Jokuschies, a student of the media study "Information Technology and Design" at FH Lübeck, Germany. During his study he was unsatisfied with the fact that projects from media students are never issued, and no longer observed after delivery and that there won't be enough value to be estimated. Therefore his bachelor thesis was about the conception, design and production of an own international online content community for media students on which they can publish their projects and show others who they are, what they do and what they can. pixiliti is the result.

By publishing high-quality projects. Show your projects to your friends and make sure they discuss it. Use the Shoutbox to do business on attention to you and your projects, take part in the community in order to raise popularity on you and your projects. Become a fan of other users and let them be a fan of you. Get users to like your project. The popularity of each project consists of the views and the "likes" in which the "likes" count more.
This is governed by the privacy settings of each user. Each user can decide individually for his profile if his information, skills, wall and fan list can be seen for all visitors, only for registered users only fans or nobody except of himself. The user can also determine whether new fan requests, wall posts and comments must be confirmed by him first.
Projects can only be commented if you are logged in. Otherwise, you won't see an input for comments on the project site. If you are logged in and still don't see an input field for comments, then the user has either set his settings that only fans or nobody else can comment on his/her projects. The same principle applies to the Wall of each user.
The most popular project can be found quickly and easily. To do this just go to the top of the navigation and click on charts. In the heading select "all". Now all projects are listed, sorted by popularity. To find the most popular project for a specific category simply click on the category you like and then select "all". By clicking the link "7 days" you look at the most popular projects in the last 7 days, and by clicking "30 days", accordingly, you see the best projects of the past 30 days, again sorted by popularity. By the way, a favorite project gets the stamp "popular project" or "most viewed". Currently these are the most popular projects:
The shoutbox is a publicly accessible bulletin board for all kinds of occasions. It offers you the opportunity to point out things, to share links, put attention on your new projects and so on. To prevent it from happening that the shoutbox is inundated with too many shouts, sending shouts is only possible through paying virtual shout credits. The shoutbox remains up to date by automatically deleting shouts older than seven days. By registering you automatically get three shout credits. You get more shout credits, if one of your projects reaches a place in the Hall of Fame or if friends of you start to join pixiliti.
At the end of each month the six best projects get automatically in the Hall of Fame. The Hall of Fame is thus a collection of the best projects and the appreciation of most striking works. As long as each project is not deleted by the author, it persists in the Hall of Fame. If it gets deleted, the next popular project takes it's place. While publishing high-quality projects and getting many reviews on these, you increase your chance to be included into the Hall of Fame. Take this opportunity to gain a positive reputation and name recognition.
Fan requests can be sent to get connected with each other. They approximately equal friend requests in social networks. Fan requests show the other user that you like his work and wants to connect with him. Fans can possibly see more information from other users, as is the case without being a fan. This depends on the privacy settings of the other user.
Shout credits are required in order to create shouts in the shoutbox. If you like to create more shouts, you can get new shout credits as follows: Either you land with your project in the Hall Of Fame, then you will automatically receive 2 new shout credits. Or you invite your friends to pixiliti.
Each user can publish 10 projects. If you like to publish more projects, you must either delete one of your existing projects or you invite your friends to pixiliti. You will be able to upload 3 more projects per friend which you invite.
Currently, the ongoing server costs will be financed through donations only. If you like the project and you want to support it, then a small donation would be very nice.
